There are some people who don't want to join Coastguard as they believe there is some requirement to be a volunteer. Nothing could be further from the truth. As a Coastguard Supporter Member you get complete on the water assistance should you ever need it at no charge other than your annual subscription of $97. That's fantastic value for money when you factor in what your boat costs or what a commercial operator may charge.
